Statement Regarding New Western Bruins

The BC Spartans Spring Hockey program is one of the Lower Mainland’s largest spring hockey programs and prides itself on its commitment to excellence, sportsmanship and fair play. Our teams seek to compete against organizations with similar values.
For this reason, BC Spartans teams will no longer participate in games involving the New Western Bruins Spring Hockey program.

Our past encounters with the 2005 Bruins have seen rough and dangerous play, Bruins coaches ejected (twice), and verbal and physical threats by Bruins parents against Spartans parents and coaches. It is our understanding also that the 2005 New Western Bruins parents were involved in a physical altercation at a tournament in Osoyoos last year. On the right is the penalty summary from our 2005 team’s April 29th, 2017 game vs the Bruins.

There are many admirable spring hockey programs with like values in British Columbia. Our players look forward to competing against all teams that stand up for sportsmanship and fair play.
